Born and raised in Leytonstone, Murkage Dave spent his youth listening to garage and R&B followed by formative years spent in Manchester absorbing The Smiths and Joy Division. This disparate mix of influences has shaped a defiantly British pop blend, with his observational storytelling continuing to attract fans globally.
His debut album ‘Murkage Dave Changed My Life’ is a record that broke new ground in both British pop and black British identity. Second studio release ‘The City Needs A Hero’ adds “even more ingredients into the mix, invoking soul, house and indie pop resulting in what is without a doubt his best album yet” (The Line Of Best Fit)
"East Londoner Murkage Dave’s observant tales of conflicted times widen their scope. Candid and folorn, The City Needs A Hero captures the 2022 millieu"
He has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Caroline Polacheck, Tricky, Mike Skinner, Evidence, AC Slater, Jaykae, Skepta, Nekfeu and more. 2023 will see him further extend creatively into these different worlds.
Murkage Dave’s listeners have formed their own community, organically grown from a connection with his music. This connection compels his fans to share the music with others, resulting in a cathartic live show experience where the whole room sings his songs together.
